International Flying Fifteen’s offer close class racing in a fast, hiking boat, which planes downwind, but allows dry self-righting. They are well sorted, rugged, long lasting boats, which can be competitive for very long periods and, you don’t capsize! Older boats can be purchased for not very much and still be competitive.
There are separate “old” boat categories for hull numbers under 2700 (Classics) and under 3400 (Silvers) – and these boats can be picked up in a healthy second-hand market on the class website.
The fleet at Draycote is a good-humoured, enthusiastic, multi-aged group, who enjoy racing and offering help to newcomers. The fleet is one of the stalwarts of the club with a steady and regular turn out for Sunday club racing, social events, prize givings, the annual Fleet Championships and Open Meetings.
