Getting New Members – Invite Your Friends
As many members will know, our membership numbers dropped significantly during the recession and it is important to build these up again.
The staff and committee can only do so much in this regard and it is important that all members help in this important task.
It was therefore fantastic to see over 50 volunteers helping with the Open Day in May, which was a great success, resulting in 13 new members and 16 taster sessions or courses booked. Thank you to all those that helped.
There is another chance to help promote club membership at our Bring A Friend Day on 13th June. This is an opportunity for you to invite your friends to the Club and take them out for a sail in your own boat or a Club boat, with no hiring fee.
The day runs from 11am to 4pm and you just turn up with your friends. You don’t have to pre-book – just turn up on the day!
Anyone joining the Club on that day will be excused the joining fee.
(There is also a Kids Bring A Friend Day on Saturday 11th July).
Get Racing – Sun 7th June
Our monthly racing session for novices and juniors takes place on the first Sunday of each month, so will be happening again on Sunday 7th June.
Elizabeth & Tim Fillmore will hold a briefing at around 10am by the shop (be dressed in your sailing kit with your boat rigged) and then will coach you on the water with your own special start at the end of the sequence.
Again, Club boats can be hired for free for this – but you do need to book in advance: contact Dave in the shop or on training@draycotewater.co.uk
