The latest round up of news from the Club…
Fireball Inland Championships
13th & 14th October
Stay on after racing: the bar will be open, hot food served (pre-order at registration), about 6:15pm, plus a quiz! Trophy presentation & prize giving on Sunday. Plus homemade cake by Draycote fleet!
Well done to Katie Byne & Ellie Driver who are now the 420 Female Under 17 National Champions.
They were also placed 3rd in the Women’s category & 15th overall
Bart’s Bash Report
We were fortunate enough to be joined by double Olympic silver medallist and Volvo Ocean Race winning skipper, Ian Walker, who sailed both races with club member Caroline Noel in her RS200. We also had the 420 teams training at the Club, so they took a break from their training to join in the Bart’s Bash Race.
Perhaps inevitably, these top youth sailors, in perfect 420 conditions, took the chocolates (literally) with 420s occupying the top 4 positions and 7 of the top 10 slots. The winners were Matteo Farina and Johnnie Thompson from Frensham Pond. They were followed by Draycote sailor, Jack Lewis, and his crew Frazer Hemmings in their 420. First non-420 Draycote boat was Peter Wood and Paul Rowe in their Fireball in 5th place.
Martyn Lewis and Richard Byne would have been the first non-420 as they reunited in a Fireball after a long gap. Unfortunately, so long a gap that they didn’t realise that the Fireball starting sequence had changed and started a minute early!
In the afternoon, with the 420 sailors back in training, a 100-minute pursuit race was held which was won convincingly by Martyn & Richard, followed by Jeremy Davy and Martin Huett in their Flying Fifteen.
The Club regatta combines the results from both races and, in the end, it was Jeremy and Martin ahead of Peter and Paul by a whisker!

We invite you to join us as we make decisions for the next 12 months of our club.
AGM packs & the proposed new articles have been posted out now.
We always welcome new faces to the Committee and if you’re interested in joining, please complete a Proposal Form which can be found in the Lounge, Shop or Office. Completed forms should be handed in to the Office or Shop, and the closing date for nominations is Wednesday 24th October 2018.
The website has a brief description of what being on the Committee involves, see HERE.
If you have any items for discussion at the AGM, or questions, the best thing is to put them in writing and send them to the office or speak to a committee member.
The ladies changing rooms will be having a major revamp in spring 2019 but in the short term we are installing new mirrors and hair dryers, and doing some general repairs.
