Summer Update!

Welcome, the summer newsletter with sailing season at full throttle!

But as September fast approaches things will unfortunately start to slow down a little as we approach the autumn!

Draycote Youth & Junior Championships

On Saturday the 3rd October we will be holding our annual Draycote Youth & Junior Championships.

This is a great opportunity for all our young sailors to participate in a series of races for some beautiful trophies and other prizes. There will be races and on the water coaching for those that need help and encouragement to get around the race track.

This is always a great event, but we really do need your help to make the day a success. We need a fair few volunteers to make sure this event runs smoothly and we are looking for you parents to volunteer for the following roles:

  • Registration
  • Chief OD
  • Assistant OD’s
  • Coaching Support
  • Shore Support.

Please let me or Dave know ASAP if you can help us. Thanks in advance.

Training Changes

As the nights draw rapidly in, we are moving our Friday night Intermediate and Race Training sessions to Saturday mornings.

Friday 4th September will be the last Friday night of the season I’m afraid, but you can join us on Saturday 12th at 10am (rigged and changed) for the usual Y&J sessions and the additional Race Training group.

Season Update

We had a great Family Fun Race Night, BBQ and Camp-out back in July, lots of fun was had both on the water and on land including a impromptu water fight late on in the evening instigated by one of the parents!!

We’re continuing to have success on the water with some good results at the Optimist National Championships in Pwhelli, Wales.

Jack Lewis and Lucas Marshall had a great regatta and secured 1st place at the RS Feva Junior World Championships.

Finally a huge congratulations to everyone at the Tera Worlds and especially Harrison Pye who became Tera Pro World Champion!

It’s great to see, but I don’t always here about your great news and success, so please feel free to drop me an email with how you/your kids are getting on out in the big wide world and I’ll include them in the next newsletter; lets celebrate our kids achievements.
