Draycote Water offers some of the best recreational inland windsurfing in the Midlands. With over 650 acres of exposed water Draycote has steady, uninterrupted winds.
The reservoir is on an open, elevated position providing clean & typically cross-shore wind, ideal for all ages and skill levels. Draycote Water SC offer a comprehensive, professional safety boat cover during sailing hours, 364 days per year.
There is a variety of sailing available from relaxed freeriding of all standards to freestyle. We have a large rigging area away from the hustle and bustle of the dinghy launching areas with a shallow-enough gradient to offer easy beach starting.
A fast growing watersport that many of our new and current members have taken up.
The fastest way to start is with using a wing on a SUP board – often with additional fins to help with stability and direction control. Take advantage of lighter winds to get to grips with the handling and stances required.
Start by taxiing on the water surface before moving to your first flights on the foil where the board moves effortlessly above the water.

New RYA guidance has been issued to give clarification of the safety gear that needs to be worn on different boats / boards, and for wingsurfing and foiling craft, which is summed up in this table.
* Wet suits, dry suits and waist / seat harnesses alone are not deemed to be a personal flotation device.
DWSC Regulations have also been updated to include these (Regulations 18.8-18.11).
During the months of November-March all on sailing boats and boards of any type shall wear exposure proof clothing (at least an adequate expanded neoprene wet suit providing protection from neck to ankle or a dry suit providing watertight cover from neck to ankle).
We have around 70 members in the windsurfing and winging fleet who regularly enjoy unlimited Club access 364 days per year.
Club members can also hire our boards for £15 per session: Non-planing beginner boards (225l) with small 2.5m – 4.5m sails. Hire includes buoyancy aid and wetsuit. (Only available April – October)
Day Tickets are available to non-members to sail, windsurf or wingsurf with their own equipment and enjoy the benefits of the Club with one day temporary membership for just £25.00.
Day Tickets suit those not going on the water often or unsure whether full membership is right for them, but they are limited to just four times per year.
Our 2 hour sessions are perfect for giving it a go before doing a full RYA Start Windsurfing course, or for getting back into the sport if you’ve not been on the water for a while.
We run the 2 day RYA Start Windsurfing course for beginners between April and October each year which covers all of the basics you need to get you windsurfing across the water.
We’re not currently offering training courses for winging as we’re not seeing enough demand to make it viable.
However, we don’t know the demand levels unless people contact us! If you are interested in formal training, please submit this form:
