Instructor Courses

We pride ourselves on running RYA courses at the highest level and it all starts with becoming an RYA Instructor.
We offer all of the necessary elements required to become a qualified Instructor.

Pre-Assessment

A day on the water to assess your current sailing or powerboating abilities to confirm you can manoeuvre craft in a controlled and confident manner.

The RYA website has the full information for the dinghy pre-assessment or the powerboat skills assessment.

Assistant Sailing Instructor

This qualification centre specific so is only valid to be used at Draycote Water Sailing Club.

A 2 day course to run taster sessions and assist with teaching Level 1 and Stage 1-3 courses. 

Minimum age 14 years.

Candidates are required to hold an advanced sailing module such as Start Racing, Spinnaker Sailing, or Performance Sailing.

Powerboat Level 2 may be required for some activities.

Instructor Courses

A mix of shore and water sessions with time being split between learning about all aspects of delivering the RYA syllabus to both adults and juniors, giving you time to develop the teaching skills to deliver safe, fun and educational sessions to your future students.
