The steak will be purchased from Joseph Morris Butchers so guaranteed to be a tasty meal.  There is no need to book however if you know you are coming then please let us know where possible.  Please contact us at office@draycotewater.co.uk or call 01788 811153.  Partners and families are all welcome!!

Club Regatta and Bart’s Bash: Sunday 17th September
The biggest Club event of the year! Open to all members whatever their ability. And a day of fund raising for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation!

In the morning: Bart’s Bash Race: An average lap race using the Club’s normal starts.
In the afternoon: For the adults, a 60-minute pursuit race. For Youth & Junior: a sailing obstacle course.

Please register your entry on the Bart’s Bash website: http://www.bartsbash.com/ and start fundraising. If we, as a Club, raise at least £250 we will be entered into a draw for 12 of our members to go down to the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre, Portland, to enjoy the thrill of having a half day experience on an Extreme 40. That certainly makes it worth putting your £s in!

There are collecting tins for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation in the bar and in the shop. In the shop there are various Bart’s Bash goodies available in return for an appropriate donation:

  • Simpson Sunnies (minimum £5 donation)
  • Bart Badges (minimum £3 donation)
  • Bart’s Bash Wrist Bands (minimum 50p donation)
  • Bart Stickers (minimum 10p donation)

The entry for the event is £1 per adult competitor and 50p per Youth & Junior competitor (all proceeds to ASSF).

The highest placed participant who has taken part in Get Racing this year will be awarded the Tom Pearson Trophy.

To add to the day we have a change to the usual catering facilities.  The wet bar will be open as normal for breakfast but will close at 11 o’clock.  Then from 12:30 onwards there will be a BBQ lunch available.

We look forward to seeing as many Club members as possible on the day sailing, fund raising, watching, having fun!

Draycote Dash

In November we hold the biggest event of the year that the Club runs: The Draycote Dash. We expect at least 100 of the top sailors in the country to compete.

As always, we need help to organise this event, both on shore and on the water, one or two days. If you can help, please contact Jeremy Atkins on jnatkins@btinternet.com.

Youth and Junior Championships
This year’s championships will be taking place on Saturday 23rd September.  Jon Hughes, fleet captain, will be circulating an email to all those in the Youth and Junior fleet about the schedule for the day in the near future.

What’s been happening

  • Boat Park  – Our contractor for the Boat Park has resigned, but the vegetation is still growing hard! While we sort out how we are going to deal with this in the future it would be really helpful if you could ensure that the area around your boat is cut back. Many thanks.
  • Menagerie fleet captain – We have no Menagerie fleet captain at the moment so if anyone is interested in the position then please contact Dave Rowe or Will Whittaker to find out more.
