Now that the busyness of the summer holiday courses have finished and children are back to school, it’s time to turn our attention to the autumn & winter open meeting & training season. We are hosting a range of events over the coming weekends, more details are below.
Club Racing
2nd – Steve Harper – Laser
3rd – Norman Byrd – Menagerie (Phantom)
Unfortunately, the August Bank Holiday Air Ambulance PUrsuit Race was abandoned due to no wind, so the Club Champion results are unchanged with Harry McVicar currently leading. The last 2 races of the series are on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Our new format Get Racing series – ‘6 in 60’ – proved popular this year and we invite all participants to have a go at full club racing on Sunday 6th October, which will be the last Get Racing session for this year. There’s a start just for novice sailors which is the ideal next step.
Improver Groups & Women on Water
Women on Water have now finished for the year as the nights draw in and we lose the daylight. Many of the women will continue to sail informally at various times over the winter, and if you’d like to as well, do check their Facebook page or speak to Caroline Noel to arrange.
Improver Groups – Mid week groups have now finished, and our Sunday group will continue until 20th October. All groups will resume in March with more info closer to the time.
We are coming to the end of our first year of Improver Groups and the sessions have proven to be extremely helpful to our new and novice sailors. With lots of skills mastered and sailing friends made. We would like to thank everyone who has come along and taken part, please continue to use the WhatsApp group to arrange social sailing over the winter months.
A big thank you to Owen for organising these sessions, getting boats ready for sailors and being on hand with support, knowledge and encouragement.
Youth & Junior Champs
Saturday 21st September!
All are welcome to join in, and there will be on course coaching & support.
2 races in the morning, and 2 after lunch, average lap handicap.
Prizes and trophies await, plus immortality for the winners – your name will be on the honour boards in the club lounge for all to see!
